Privacy policy.

The short version

Anything you send through a form on this site goes to one inbox at Guest Point and nowhere else. There is no customer relationship system, no marketing platform, no mailing list and no third party receiving it. We do not sell or share it, and no information you type into a form is ever passed to an analytics tool.

Who we are

Guest Point Property Management, legal entity name and registered business address to be inserted. This policy covers the website at guestpoint.ca. It does not cover bookings.guestpoint.ca, which is operated on a third-party booking platform and has its own terms.

What we collect, and why

Only what you type into a form. Nothing is inferred and nothing is bought in.

• Your name, email address and phone number, so we can reply to you and know who we are replying to.
• A property address, where you have sent one. This is the reason we can answer your question at all: without the specific building we cannot read the right declaration or check the right rules.
• Details about the property, such as its type, size, condition and whether it is currently let. Used to assess what the unit can run and nothing else.
• Whether the property is your principal residence. This one matters more than the others, because it determines which rental models are legally available to your unit.
• Anything you write in a message field, which is entirely up to you.

A residential property address linked to a named individual is personal information under PIPEDA, and we treat the whole submission that way.

What we do not collect

• Financial details, ownership documents or identification. We do not ask for any of it through this website and we never will.
• Payment information. No payment is taken on this site.
• Anything through tracking scripts beyond standard site analytics, which measure page views and clicks rather than people.

How long we keep it

Form submissions are held in the website’s own submission store for 30 days and then purged. The email remains the record. Correspondence is kept for as long as we are dealing with your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to it.

Who else sees it

Nobody outside Guest Point, other than the service providers that make the site and the email work: the web host, and the email provider. Named on request. They process it on our instructions and for no purpose of their own. We would only disclose your information otherwise where the law requires it.

Analytics

The site measures traffic in aggregate: which pages are read, how far down, and which links are followed. That measurement is deliberately configured so that no value you type into a form ever reaches it. A property address in an analytics property would be a reportable problem, and the tracking is built to make that impossible rather than unlikely.

Cookies

The site sets only the cookies needed to make it work and to measure traffic in aggregate. A full list is to be inserted once the analytics and caching configuration is final.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Write to info@guestpoint.ca and say which of those you want. We will confirm when it is done. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with how we have handled it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and access to the inbox is restricted to the people who need it. No system is perfect, which is part of why we collect as little as we do.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
